BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 25. A new transport project by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was discussed in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports.

According to the Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Minister Beknazar Bazaraliev and representatives from JICA held initial negotiations regarding the construction of a new bridge on the 315 km Bishkek-Osh highway.

During the meeting, both parties outlined their commitments to the project. They noted that the additional bridge would facilitate uninterrupted transportation and enhance the safety of goods and passengers along the Bishkek-Osh route.

The project is expected to be implemented on a grant basis, with a strong emphasis on environmental and social considerations during the bridge's construction.

JICA is an independent agency established in 1974, supporting the economic and social development of developing countries on behalf of the Japanese government. In Kyrgyzstan, JICA focuses on fostering continuous and balanced economic growth to promote the institutionalization of democracy.
