ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 25. Turkmenistan and Afghanistan are keeping their noses to the grindstone as they hash out the details of the Serhetabat-Herat gas pipeline project, Trend reports.

CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of TAPI Pipeline Company Limited, Muhammetmyrat Amanov said at the "Future of Turkmenistan's natural gas: new export routes and export potential" panel discussion within the 29th “Oil & Gas of Turkmenistan - 2024” International Conference & EXPO in Ashgabat.

He drove home the point that this strategic project is all about bolstering the energy security of both countries while cranking up the volume of natural gas supplies flowing from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan.

Furthermore, the project will open up new avenues for gas supply, lessening reliance on the old, tried-and-true routes. This segment's completion is set to light a fire under gas deliveries, not just to Afghanistan but also to neighboring countries, paving the way for a smoother integration of Central Asia's energy markets.

The parties are rolling up their sleeves and putting their heads together on the project, digging deep into research and laying the groundwork, with construction work set to hit the ground running in the coming years. This will be a giant leap forward in laying the groundwork for a solid and dependable energy infrastructure in the region.

To note, the ball started rolling on the construction of the Serhetabat-Herat section, a crucial stepping stone in the grand scheme of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, back in September 2024.
