ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 25. Turkmenistan has achieved significant results in environmental protection, reducing total methane emissions by ten percent compared to 2020, the chairperson of the State Concern “Turkmengaz” Maksat Babayev said, Trend reports via Turkmenistan's International Information Center.

He made the statement at the plenary session “The latest trends in the global energy markets and prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation” within the framework of the international conference and exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2024” in Ashgabat.

The key element of this achievement was the adopted strategy for phased reduction of methane emissions, which reflects the country's commitment to environmental standards and sustainable development. As part of the strategy, measures have been introduced to reduce methane emissions in sectors such as energy and agriculture.

Turkmenistan is also actively developing international cooperation to share experience and advanced technologies to better manage emissions.

These measures harmonize with the global efforts to combat climate change, confirming Turkmenistan's intention to contribute to improving the environmental situation in the region and the world.
