BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 26. The Georgian Dream is a guarantee of 12 years of peace in this nation, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili told reporters after taking part in the voting, Trend reports.

“The Georgian Dream is the sole option available to the Georgian populace, as the current decision lies between malevolence and virtue, between secularism and spirituality. Currently, our populace is confronted with a decision that is seldom encountered. Consequently, it is imperative that all individuals attend the polling stations today to endorse the Georgian Dream, which ensures 12 years of tranquility in this nation, a dignified progression towards Europe, and the enhancement of prosperity," Papuashvili said.

To note, polling stations in Georgia commenced at 08:00 local time and will conclude at 20:00.

A total of 3,508,294 people can vote, including 95,910 abroad. For these legislative elections, 3,111 voting stations were set up, including a record 67 abroad. Georgians abroad can vote in 53 cities in 42 countries.

The voting process will be closely monitored by 102 local organizations and 64 international organizations.

This year, a proportional system based on party lists will exclusively elect members of parliament. To win seats in parliament, parties must win at least five percent of the vote.

All in all, there are 18 parties in the race, with five of them joining forces to form coalitions.

The parliamentary elections will also introduce the electronic voting system for the first time. With the wonders of modern technology at your fingertips, it is considered a safe bet that over 90 percent of ballots will be tallied and the results rolled out within an hour of the polls shutting their doors.
