SHUSHA, Azerbaijan, October 26. Renovation work in Azerbaijan's Karabakh makes great impression, UK traveler Richard Ellis told reporters during his visit to the region within the UK Piki Reels club delegation, Trend reports.
"This is my second visit to Azerbaijan. Last year, I came with my wife and explored Baku on our own. It’s an amazing city, where old architecture harmoniously blends with modern innovations. The Flame Towers are truly impressive," he said.
According to the traveler, this is his first visit to Karabakh.
"We have seen in the news what has happened here over the years. The landscapes are beautiful, and considering the reconstruction work done in recent years, the infrastructure you have created is simply stunning," Ellis also said.
He emphasized the impressive road systems and tunnels, as well as the successful preservation of the rural areas.
The visit of a 33-member delegation of the British club Piki Reels to Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur has started today.
Representatives of major international travel clubs have been on the go, making the rounds to Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur a whopping 11 times between 2020 and 2024. Over 400 foreign travelers from upwards of 50 countries jumped on the bandwagon for these trips.
This visit by the UK Piki Reels club marked their 12th trip to the well-trodden path. These trips are the bread and butter for shining a light on the once occupied territories as a piece of dark tourism pie, while also pulling back the curtain on the extensive construction and restoration work that's in full swing.
