Business activity index decreases in Uzbekistan in April

The index of business activity of the Uzbek industrial sector, calculated by the Antimonopoly Policy Improvement Center under the State Committee on De-monopolization, fell by two points to 66.8 points in April 2012 compared to March, a statement posted at the State Antimonopoly Committee's website said on Saturday.

It was reported that the projected figure as of March hit 71.1 points.

A significant increase in index by 19 points in April is observed in the areas of health and information technologies while declining in other sectors.

The projected figure as of May 2012 was 69.2 points. This indicates to moderate optimistic expectations of businessmen.

The index of business activity of the industrial sector is calculated on the basis of a survey of 100 large and medium industrial enterprises.

The index is calculated on the basis of five key indices, such as new orders, production and sale volumes, employment, and the remains of the finished products.
