Annual inflation rate hits 0.4 per cent in Georgia in August

The inflation rate in Georgia was 0.4 per cent in August 2012 compared to August 2011.

The Georgian Statistics Agency told Trend that the changes in prices in the following groups affected the formation of inflation rate in a 12-month-period:

The prices on food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 2.8 per cent. Accordingly, the share of this group in the total rate of annual inflation was 0.41 per cent.

The high rate in price reduction was fixed in the following groups:
fruits and grapes (15.0 per cent), sugar and other sweets (10.1 per cent), bread and bakery products (7.8 per cent), however, prices on fish (6.7 per cent) and non-alcoholic beverages (3.0 per cent) increased.

The prices in hotels, cafes and restaurants rose by 4.9 per cent. Accordingly, the share of this group in the total index of annual inflation was 0.16 per cent. The significant increase in prices was observed in the group of cafes and restaurants (8.1 per cent).
