WB reveals Turkmen GDP growth in 2018

Turkmen GDP will grow by 6.3 percent in 2018 and 6.4 percent in 2017, the World Bank (WB) said in its recently released report.

The GDP growth in Turkmenistan was 6.2 percent in 2016, according to the report.

Inflation in Turkmenistan this year will be at the level of 6 percent. In 2016, inflation was at the level of 3.6 percent. In 2018, consumer price index in Turkmenistan will grow by 6.2 percent.

Foreign-exchange controls and tightened import regulations led to a 25 percent decline in merchandise imports in Turkmenistan in 2017, according to the report.

Improvements in Turkmenistan’s investment climate could help to attract investors in the non–hydrocarbon sectors of the country’s economy, said the report.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of the volume of natural gas and is exporting it to China and Iran.
