Uzbekistan is planning to establish production of 510,000 products of ceramic sanitaryware (toilet bowls, wash basins, bidets and others) per year in its Navoi region using direct foreign investments, Uzbekistan’s O’zqurilishmateriallari JSC told Trend.

The joint stock company noted that there are almost no other production capacities for such products in Central Asia, which opens up prospects for potential sales in the region.

“There is a huge demand in domestic market in ceramic sanitaryware. According to statistics, the republic imports over 400,000 sanitaryware worth over $5.4 million every year. The constantly growing demand in the republic in ceramic sanitaryware is no less than 350,000-400,000 pieces per year,” O’zqurilishmateriallari said.

At the same time, the capacities available in the republic do not satisfy the demand.

In this regard, the project envisages selling 55 percent of the total products in the domestic market, with the remaining 45 percent being exported to the countries of the region.

The industrial site of the sanitaryware plant with an area of 10-15 hectares is planned to be located in the Angren or Jizzakh free industrial zones.

The cost of the technological line for production of ceramic sanitaryware varies at $5-15 million. The expected annual revenue of the new production will be $20.4 million.

The new enterprise will create additional 100 jobs.

O’zqurilishmateriallari also emphasized that the republic has all the main types of raw materials used in the ceramic sanitaryware production - kaolin, quartz sand, feldspar, dolomite and others, with the exception of zirconium.
