Georgia to offer 100 buildings for privatization

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12

Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia will offer 100 state-owned buildings to investors for privatization this month, said Minister Natia Turnava, Trend reports citing Georgian media outlets.

In her words, the total cost of the state property that is offered for sale exceeds 100 million lari ($13.5 million).

Turnava added that one of the main priorities for the Ministry of Economy in 2020 is the privatization of state property with the objective to increase income from privatization to the state budget. It is also aimed to involve more state property into economy and thus, accelerate economic growth.

The minister noted that there are more facilities, especially in the regions, which can be privatized by business.

As of today, income from privatization amounted to 73 million lari ($24.5 million) and it is expected to up to 100 million lari ($33.5 million) until the end of this year.
