World Bank predicts growth of Azerbaijan's export operations in 2021-2022

The value of goods and services exports from Azerbaijan in 2021 will be 1.6 percent more than in the current year, Trend reports referring to an updated report of World Bank (WB) on Europe and Central Asia.

According to WB, the import will increase by 1.5 percent in the upcoming year.

As reported, in 2020 Azerbaijan’s export of goods and services declined by 6.4 percent, while import – by 10.5 percent amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bank forecasts growth in Azerbaijan's goods and services exports by 2.1 percent and 1.7 percent respectively in 2022.

In 2019, exports of goods and services from Azerbaijan increased by 1.5 percent, and imports - by 2.2 percent.

Azerbaijan has been cooperating with the World Bank since 1992. During the past period, WB has supported Azerbaijan in implementing critical structural reforms, helping to stabilize the economy after the recession in the 1990s.
