Iran's imports decline

The imports of Iran decreased by 15 percent in terms of value and 6 percent in terms of volume during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through February 18, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mehdi Mirashrafi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

The official stressed Iran imported 30.8 million tons of goods worth $34.3 billion within the mentioned period.

He added that of the imported goods, 21.4 million tons worth $11 billion were essential products.

Mirashrafi noted that Iran imported 3.2 million tons of goods worth $8.8 billion from China and 4.5 million tons worth $ 8.4 billion from the United Arab Emirates in 11 months.

The director general said that Iran also imported 4.3 million tons of goods worth $3.8 billion from Turkey, 2.1 million tons worth $2 billion from India and 1.1 million tons worth $1.7 billion from Germany over the reporting period.

According to him, these five countries accounted for 72 percent of Iran's total imports in terms of value and 50 percent in terms of volume.

As reported, Iran's foreign trade turnover for 11 months amounted to 134 million tons worth $65.5 billion.
