SOCAR to Operate New Offshore Tank Battery by End of 2008

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 August / Trend corr. E.Ismayilov/ The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to operate a new tank battery including six tanks in the Oil Rocks oil & gas production unit by the end of the year, the unit said on 30 July.

"We plan to put into operation the six tanks by the end of the year," oil & gas production unit said.

Four of the six new tanks have been already set up. Oil pumping systems are being set up at the tanks.

Oil Rocks oil & gas production unit plans to set up six new tanks, one of them to be used for raw stuff separation. The volume of a tank is 2,000 tons, diameter - 15m, height - 12m.

According to SOCAR geologists, remaining oil volume in the Oil Rocks field totals 30mln tons. The company intends to drill 78 new wells and to construct new platforms by 2010 to improve oil production in the field.
