Volume of Kazakh Oil Transportation via BTC Announced

Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 November / Trend / Some 135,700 barrels of Kazakh oil were transported via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline in October, State Statistic Committee of Azerbaijan said.

In October, American ChevronTexaco company started transporting the oil from Kazakh field of Tengiz via BTC. 

According to the conditions of the agreement, the Tengiz oil will be transported via BTC and railway to the Georgian ports (Kulevi and Batumi), high-ranking representative of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) said formerly.

By the end of November, nearly 65-70,000 barrels of oil will be transported via the pipeline and such volume will be transported by the end of December as well. The volume of the transported oil is expected to be increased up to 4mln tons per year, the same source said.  

In December, the volume of oil transported by Chevron via BTC will compose 2.4mln barrels. 

ChevronTexaco is the operator of the Kazakhstan Field of Tengiz. TengizShevroil develops the contract area.

The total length of the BТС pipeline is 1.768km, including a 443km segment running via Azerbaijan, a 249km segment via Georgia and a 1.076km segment via Turkey.

The BTC shareholders are BP (30.1%); AzBTC (25.00%); Chevron (8.90%); Statoil (8.71%); TPAO (6.53%); ENI (5.00%); Total (5.00%); Itochu (3.40%); INPEX (2.50%); ConocoPhillips (2.50%) and Hess (2.36%).

The Georgian Black Sea Port in Kulevi is owned by SOCAR and in Kulevi by GazMunayGas.
