The State Oil Company of Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) Marketing and Economic Operation Department (MEOD) exported over 930,000 tons of oil related products in January-May 2009, compared to 1 million tons in the same period in 2008.
The MEOD exported 171,000 tons of oil products in May.
Oil products are manufactured at two oil refining plants in Baku with a total capacity of 20 million tons of oil per year. Both plants are owned by SOCAR, which manufactures roughly 7 million tons of oil per day from offshore and onshore fields.
