Russia remains a major and important partner for providing Europe with energy, U.S. Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Richard Morningstar told Trend special correspondent in Astana on Aug. 26.

"I believe that the European policy of diversification is becoming more efficient, and the gas crisis [between Russia and Ukraine] pushed it to be mobilized to solve problems. That package, which was proposed last spring, is supported," said Morningstar.

Today there are a lot of potential transportation routes of gas supplies to Europe and to ensure its energy security. These are projects, which include Nabucco and Turkey-Greece-Italy route. "All oil projects are also important," said the U.S. State Department's special envoy.

In addition, it is important that Europe continues to support the development and use of renewable energy," said Morningstar.
