Tajikistan imported 67,705 tons on LNG worth $41.838 million during the first quarter of 2014, ASIA-Plus reported with the reference to the country's ministry of energy and water resources.

This figure is 17,752 tons more than the volume of import during the same period of last year.

Import of the fuel will be increasing each year proportionate to the import of cars, the ministry said.

Today about half of the cars in Tajikistan run on LNG.

The price for one ton of LNG delivered to the customs border of Tajikistan cost $618 in the first quarter of 2014. The price reportedly was only slightly changed, compared to the same period of last year.

Currently the average price for LNG in Tajikistan amounts to 2.9-3 somoni per liter.

The share of Kazakhstan in Tajikistan's total LNG import amounts to 91 percent, Russia's share - to 6.6 percent and Turkmenistan's share - to 2.4 percent.
