BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18. This week it became known that a new project is being launched at Azerbaijani gas condensate field "Shah Deniz", which will allow the Shah Deniz Alpha (SDA) platform to receive its power supply from the Shah Deniz Bravo (SDB) platform through a subsea cable, Trend reports.

The project is designed to significantly reduce SDA’s operational emissions and increase the platform’s operational efficiency, providing a robust, long-term, high-availability power supply.

SDA’s electric power is currently supplied by five main power generators designed to be run by dual – gas and diesel, fuel engines. The existing generators will be decommissioned once the new project becomes operational in 2024.

Also this week it was reported that OPEC predicted the volume of liquid hydrocarbon production in Azerbaijan.

According to the forecast, the production of liquid hydrocarbons in Azerbaijan will grow to 47,000 barrels per day on an annual basis by the end of 2022 and will average 0.8 million barrels per day.

Also this week it became known that the Energy Information Administration (EIA) of the US Ministry of Energy has changed its forecasts for oil production in Azerbaijan.

According to the new forecast, the production of oil and other liquid hydrocarbons in Azerbaijan will average 0.68 million barrels per day in 2022 compared to 0.69 million barrels per day in the previous report of the department.

According to EIA, petroleum and other liquids production in Azerbaijan will stand at 0.68 million barrels per day (mb/d) in 2022, as compared to 0.69 mb/d in the previous forecast.

EIA estimates that Azerbaijan produced 0.70 mb/d in 1Q2022 and 0.69 mb/d in 2Q2022, for the rest of the quarters the volume of production will stand at 0.68 mb/d in 3Q2022 and 0.67 mb/d in 4Q2022.

In addition, it became known that the International Energy Agency (IEA) published a forecast for oil production in Azerbaijan in 2022.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) expects Azerbaijan’s oil production to stand at 0.68 million barrels per day in 2022, as compared to 0.69 million barrels per day in the previous report.

The agency estimates the country’s oil output at 0.70 million barrels per day in 1Q2022 and 0.67 million barrels per day in 2Q2022.

The forecasts for 3Q2022 and 4Q2022 also stand at 0.67 million barrels per day each.
