BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23. Azerbaijan (Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic)-Türkiye-Europe electricity hub is to be created by 2026, Trend reports with reference to the Strategy for socio-economic development of Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026.

Azerenergy joint-stock company will be engaged in the project that will cover the period between 2025 and 2026. A high-voltage, direct current (HVDC) electric power transmission system and a 230-kilometers long double-circuit power line with capacity of 400 kilowatts will be created as part of the project. This will allow to directly export electricity to Türkiye.

Electricity generation in Azerbaijan exceeded 13.52 billion kilowatt-hours in the first half of 2022, which is 2.3 percent more than in the same period in 2021. Over 6.64 billion kilowatt-hours of this volume were exported. Azerbaijan imported around 71.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in H1 2022.
