Volumes of electricity produced by Azerbaijan's power plants revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 14. The total electricity generation in Azerbaijan amounted to 2.76 billion kWh in January 2023 which is 199.8 million kWh, or 7.8 percent higher than the same period last year, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Energy told Trend.

According to the ministry, during the reporting period, Azerbaijan's thermal power plants (TPPs) increased electricity production by 210.1 kWh compared to January 2022, to 2.66 billion kWh. However, that of hydroelectric power plants decreased by 13.5 million kWh, to 67.2 million kWh.

Electricity generated by other sources of energy amounted to 27.96 million kWh.

In January 2022, Azerbaijan's wind power plants generated 4.68 million kWh of electricity, solar generated 3.93 million kWh, and the thermal power plants of the solid waste incineration plant generated 19.35 million kWh of electricity.

During the reporting period, the electricity production of Azerenergy OJSC amounted to over 2.523 billion kWh (2.46 billion kWh at thermal power plants and 63.5 million kWh at hydroelectric power plants), while the State Energy Service of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic produced 28.85 million kWh (21.98 million kWh at thermal power plants, 3.24 million kW-h at hydroelectric power plants, and 3.63 million kWh at solar power plants).

The wind power plants of Azerishiq JSC produced 4 million kWh of electricity in January 2023.

Azerbaijani electricity exports amounted to 512.6 million kWh in January, which is two times, or 265.4 million kWh, more compared to the same period in 2022. During the reporting period, Azerbaijan slightly increased electricity imports, from 10.7 million kWh to 10.8 million kWh.
