ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 21. Turkmenistan is set to take part in the upcoming EXPO 2027 in Japanese Yokohama, an international horticultural exhibition dedicated to sustainable development, Trend reports via the Turkmen embassy in Japan.

The discussion regarding Turkmenistan's participation took place between Ambassador Atadurdy Bayramov and Japan's EXPO 2027 Commissioner, Ambassador Koshikawa Kazuhiko, during talks focused on cooperation in environmental protection, agriculture, and horticulture.

The sides noted the event's significance in contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), showcasing a Japanese model that envisions a society that not only achieves these goals but looks beyond them.

Key directions for realizing the event’s objectives include the rollout of Society 5.0, implementation of green infrastructure, invigorating agriculture and rural communities through the promotion of horticultural culture, and enhancing tourism development and regional revitalization.

Through collaboration among citizens, private companies, and government agencies, the EXPO aims to present a leading "Green City" model that envisions urban life coexisting with nature. The objectives of the International Horticultural Exposition include promoting international horticulture and landscaping, enriching lives with flowers and greenery, fostering regional and economic development, and addressing various social issues.

Additionally, the event will accelerate initiatives for the growth of horticulture, landscaping, and agriculture while reappraising and sharing Japan's rich horticultural and landscaping culture. It will also focus on preserving and passing down traditional horticultural techniques and genetic resources.

This meeting marks a crucial step toward strengthening ties between Turkmenistan and Japan, paving the way for collaborative efforts in environmental initiatives and sustainable practices.
