BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 21. The IV Reporting-Election Conference of the Union of Volunteer Organizations of Azerbaijan (UVOA) has been held at the Baku Convention Center, Trend reports.
The event has gathered leaders of the UVOA member organizations, media representatives, several official guests, and volunteers.
The conference began with the national anthem and a minute of silence to honor the memory of the martyrs who fell for the homeland.
A video presentation showcasing the final report on the activities of the UVOA over the past period was then shown.
The event speakers, Head of the Youth Policy and Sports Department at the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Hamid Nasibov and Acting Executive Director of the Youth Foundation of Azerbaijan Gadir Khalilov, emphasized the role of the UVOA in the countrywide volunteer movement.
They pointed out that, thanks to the attention and care of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, significant progress has been made in this area.
UVOA Chairman Yusuf Valiyev delivered a speech on the organization's activities.
He said that volunteers play an important role in the social, economic, cultural, ecological, and other spheres of the country, highlighting the youth's contribution to societal development and the active involvement of volunteers in addressing social issues.
The event awarded leaders of the UVOA's member organizations for their successful activities and held election for candidates to be presented as part of the board and for the chairperson for the next year.
As a result of the voting, Vugar Aliyev was elected the new chairman of the UVOA.
Besides, election was held for the positions of deputy chairpersons for the upcoming period.
Head of the Eco-Volunteers Group Sayara Mammadova and Chairperson of the "Volunteer" Student Cooperation Public Association Leyla Zeynalova were elected as the deputy chairpersons.
Aliyev expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and emphasized that he will spare no effort for the comprehensive development of volunteer activities.
