BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 21. Interest in strengthening cooperation with BRICS meets Azerbaijan’s fundamental national interests, the new Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Rahman Mustafayev said in an interview with the Russia's Tatarstan24 TV channel, Trend reports.
"First of all, the interest in strengthening cooperation with BRICS meets the fundamental national interests of our country and fits organically into the consistent course of official Baku to form a fair world order, to create equal opportunities for development for all states. On the one hand, Azerbaijan advocates for increasing the authority of the UN, its role and effectiveness as a universal organization called upon to play a central coordinating role in international relations, and on the other hand, it shares the ideology of a multipolar world, the formation of a world order free from double standards and excluding the creation of dividing lines," he said.
According to him, in this context, cooperation with such an influential organization as BRICS is of particular importance.
"After all, BRICS is almost 35 percent of the earth's land area, 45 percent of the world's population, 30 percent of the world's GDP, over 40 percent of the world's oil production and 70 percent of the world's reserves of rare earth minerals, which are the basis of the industrial revolution," the ambassador added.
