BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 21. Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov has visited China at the invitation of Head of the country's National Energy Administration Zhang Jianhua, Trend reports via the nation's Ministry of Energy.
According to the ministry, Shahbazov will participate in the III Ministerial Conference on Energy, which will take place on October 23-24 in China's Qingdao, Shandong province.
The ministry pointed out that the event, themed "Implementing innovations for a shared energy future", will discuss cooperation in energy security, the development of energy markets, the latest technological innovations in the field of green energy, and financial opportunities for promoting green energy.
Shahbazov is scheduled to participate and speak at the opening ceremony of the ministerial conference, as well as at a forum on "Strengthening cooperation in mutual coordination in energy for further diversification of energy supply".
The visit also schedules bilateral meetings with leaders of Chinese companies in Beijing.
To note, Azerbaijan is engaged in a number of negotiations with Chinese companies in the field of renewable energy. Azerbaijan is exploring opportunities for cooperation with China in renewable energy, energy-saving systems, grid enhancement, the export of green energy, offshore wind energy, and the supply of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cables, with extensive discussions on studying the latest practices.
Chinese companies have expressed interest in joining large-scale activities to realize the vast potential of renewable energy in Azerbaijan. They're currently sizing up the investment opportunities for building renewable energy plants in the region.
