Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 April / Trend corr S. Babayeva/ In summer the Rotterdam Court may divulge a verdict on the financial court proceedings involving Maltese FIMbank and the Azerbaijani Government which is protected by Azerbaijan's Communications & IT Ministry.

According to the Communications Ministry, previously the Court said the verdict may be made on 20 November, but then the Communications Ministry received an official letter saying that additional time is required for consideration of the case. Now, the Court is expected to make the decision in June.

The Ministry said the Court will either make a decision on the merits or will draw additional facts and evidence. In both cases the proceedings may be extended again.

Earlier the court proceeding took place on 9 October and if the bank does not make a petition on the involvement of additional witnesses, it will be possible to hold a final meeting.

For several years, FimBank has been demanding that Azerbaijan pay off a loan in the amount of over $4.5mln, which, according to the bank, was allotted to Azerbaijani telecommunication companies under the state guarantee. Azerbaijan, in turn, states that these companies never existed and were not issued guarantees. The first lawsuit was initiated by FimBank in July 2004 at the courts of Rotterdam and Paris
