Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 April / Trend / Turkish companies are quite interested in investing in the communication sector of Azerbaijan, Hulusi Kilija, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Azerbaijan said during his meeting with Ali Abbasov, the minister of communication and information technology of Azerbaijan.
The Turkish investors are interested in the electronic signature, satellite launching, construction of trans-national fiber-optic cable main, telemedicine and software.
The Ambassador emphasized the important role of Azerbaijan, which has become IT coordinator in the region connecting Europe, Turkey, Caucasus and Central Asia. According to Ambassador, Azerbaijan can serve as an information bridge between Europe and Asia as a result of development of information and communication technology.
The Ambassador touched upon Azerbaijan's initiative concerning construction of trans-national fiber-optic cable main covering 20 countries, which will eliminate information shortage in the region. According to Turkish diplomat, Turkey fully supports Azerbaijan's initiative. Kilij also stated his country's plans to hold talks with other region countries to realize this project.
