By Huseyn Valiyev – Trend:

Full transition from Internet Protocol IPv4 to IPv6 in Azerbaijan is currently impossible as it will pose a problem for backward linkage, a source in the state Internet service provider AzDataCam told Trend.

The source said that abandonment of the old Protocol can create a problem with access to local web resources.

“To ensure that such problems do not arise, it is necessary that throughout the world, the equipment used by operators supports IPv6, and all the old equipment supporting IPv4 is taken out of service. This certainly entails high costs,” the source noted.

“About 60 percent of the world is the countries with a low level of technological development. So if we completely abandon IPv4, the access to our resources from these countries will be impossible. This is the limiting factor, not allowing to completely switch to IPv6.”
