The Ministry of Communications Information Technologies is waiting for completion of a tender on selection of a consulting company on the project of the Azerbaijani government and the World Bank Development of financial services for upgrade of post system, the Ministry told Trend. The tender commission selected 3 companies from 17 who submitted their proposals.
A tender on supply of computers for Azerpocht state company and establishment of server room will be announced as part of the project.
Under the project it is planned to announce several tenders.
After the implementation of the project Azerpocht will be included in the national system on payment for implementation of financial and banking services.
The Communications Ministry said that the financial and banking services of Azerpocht will stat to render in 2007. It is planned to allocate micro-credits through post departments.
The project is implemented under the state program on development of communications and telecommunications system in Azerbaijan 2005-2008. The cost of 3-year project is $17.5m, with $12.25m provided by the WB, the rest part is financed by the Azerbaijani government.
