Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva / Azercell Telecom (mobile operator) in a joint venture is carrying out activities for introducing a new Mobile Banking service for its Azericard subscribers. The technical work regarding processing the Azericard is in progress. Out of all of the CIS countries the service has so far only been implemented in Russia.
After the introduction of the service, Azercell subscribers will be able to regulate their accounts including public utilities payments by means of mobile phone. They will also be able to block their plastic cards by themselves in case of loss. The new service will be operating sometime in 2007.
