Japanese MP have decided to recommend the candidacy of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev for the Nobel Peace Prize.

This was officially announced by Japanese MP Hiroyuki Moriyama who is taking part in the international conference 'From banning nuclear tests to a world free of nuclear weapons' in Astana.

Over 200 foreign guests from more than 75 countries and 20 international organisations including the United Nations and IAEA arrived in Astana to participate in the Forum.

For the second time Kazakhstan becomes initiator to conduct a major international forum dedicated to the renunciation of nuclear weapons and the proclamation of peace and harmony throughout the world.

Previously, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev made a number of initiatives in the field of nuclear disarmament such as the cessation of nuclear testing, the closure of the Semipalatinsk test site, non-possession of nuclear arsenal and the declaration of Central Asia as a zone free of nuclear weapons.

Three years ago, Nazarbayev proposed the initiative to declare August 29 as International Day against Nuclear Tests, which was supported by the United Nations.
