Trend:

The distribution and logistics complex is planned to be built in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region, Trend reports referring to the press service of the regional government.

A land plot in the Doskino settlement is being considered. Uzbekistan will take part in the implementation of the project. Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin and head of the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan Botir Zaripov agreed on cooperation in this sphere on April 7.

The sides signed a memorandum during the Innoprom international industrial exhibition. The documents envisage the development and strengthening of ties between these two parties in the trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian spheres.

The government clarified that the complex will be able to receive up to 40 percent of cargo from Uzbekistan, which arrives in the Volga Federal District.

“If the project is successfully implemented, the scope of interregional cooperation, the number of new jobs will greatly increase,” Nikitin added.

“The main sphere is the supply of agricultural products, in particular, fresh vegetables and fruits to the European part of Russia,” governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region said. “The dependence on import of such products will always remain due to the climate. The region is interested in providing residents with more affordable and high-quality products.”

The "Association of Agro-Export Centers" wants to deal with the construction of the logistics complex, the project will be supported by the Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation.
