The Iranian Petrochemical Commercial Company has sold over 1.7 million tons of products from March 20 until August 13, the company's director for domestic sales said.

Jamshid Mohammadi told the ILNA News Agency that the sold products amounted to 21 trillion rials (some $1.7 billion) in value.

The company accounts for about 80 percent of the total domestic sales of petrochemical products, Mohammadi noted.

On July 2, Deputy Oil Minister Gholam-Hossein Bayat told the Shana News Agency that there is no problem to sell petrochemical products in domestic or in foreign markets.

Bayat said Iran plans to increase the petrochemical output by 5 million tons to 49 million tons in the current calendar year, which ends on March 20.

He added that nine petrochemical projects will be implemented this year, which will boost the country's output by 5 million tons.
