Three people were killed in Iran's northern provinces of Mazandaran and Semnan as result of a flood on June 4.

Heavy rain in the north of the country caused floods in several regions, especially in the Mazandaran, Semnan and Golestan provinces, Fars news agency reported on June 5.

Flooding has damaged more than 1,300 hectares of agricultural lands in the Mazandaran province, head of the Crisis Management Office of the province, Rostam Zaroudi said, adding that about 2,200 housing units were flooded and some of them damaged between 10 to 60 percent.

An official from Iran's health ministry, Mojtaba Khaledi said that preparing safe drinking water to prevent infectious diseases in the region is one of the priorities of the ministry.
