Domestic flights in Iran increased by 15 percent during the third Iranian calendar month (May 20-June 20) compared to the same period last year, IRNA news agency reported July 5.
Over 34,000 flights were carried out from 45 airports of the Iran Airports Company (IAC) during the period, the IAC announced.
Over 4.13 million passengers used the flights in Iran during the period or by 10 percent more year-on-year, according to the report.
Also 37.08 million tons of cargos were transported via Iranian airports, which is 4 percent more in comparison to the same period of preceding year.
Mehrabad Airport in Tehran topped the Iranian airports in terms of local flights with over 11,330 flights (20 percent more year-on-year), followed by Mashhad International Airport (5,650 flights) and Imam Khomeini International Airport (4,182 flights).
About 1.333 million passengers were transferred via the Mehrabad Airport (13 percent increase), meanwhile 778,653 passengers used the Mashhad Airport in the one-month period.
Also 581,864 passengers used the Imam Khomeini International Airport.
