Iran’s transit revenues up by 23%

Iran’s total transit revenues increased by 23.4 percent to 1,640.4 million in the first half of the current fiscal year (started March 20).

The country's transit revenues during the sixth calendar month (Aug. 22-Sept. 22) reached $286 million, according to the latest statistics released by Iranian Trade Promotion Organization (TPO).

The country’s revenues through road transit stood at $1,238 million (a 27.2 percent increase), followed by air transportation ($195 million, a 12.3 percent increase), marine transportation ($148.5 million, a 2.8 percent increase) and railway ($58.9 million, a 57.2 percent increase).

Over 4.857 million tons of goods were transited through Iran in the 6-month period, indicating an increase by 27 percent year-on-year.

About 1.540 million tons of transited goods were oil products and 3.317 million tons were non-oil products, meanwhile fuels topped the list of transited goods in the 6-month period, followed by cotton, agricultural and food products, according to Iranian transport officials.
