The Sefid Dasht Steel Company located in Iran’s southwestern Chaharmahal and Bakhtiyari Province should produce 700,000 tons of steel in the current Iranian year (starting on March 21, 2019), Head of Sefid Dasht Steel Company Jamshid Alibabaei told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Alibabaei, the company produced more than 554,000 tons of steel last year (starting on March 21, 2018). He added that the company renewed its record last year by producing 65,000 tons of sponge iron.

Speaking about the contracts signed this year with equipment manufacturers from East Azerbaijan Province, Alibabaei said that, given the restrictions on the import of foreign equipment, domestic manufacturers expressed their readiness to provide the necessary equipment for the company.

Until 2013, about 4 trillion rials (app. $95.2 million) were spent on the construction of the company’s Sefid Dasht Steel Complex in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiyari Province. With 65 percent of the shares being given to Isfahan's Mobarakeh Steel Company, the company spent 6 trillion rials (app. $143 million), while the remaining 35 percent were invested by IMIDRO.

Sefid Dasht Steel Complex focuses on the conversion of iron pellets to iron sponge, steelmaking, and the production of steel bars.
