Tehran, Iran, July 5

By Mehdi Sepahvand – Trend:

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s campaign against regional terrorism has brought the country respect not only from regional countries, but also from international community in general, Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission member Morteza Saffari Natanzi said.

“They used to call Iran ‘a supporter of terrorism’ but now they have recognized its services,” Natanzi told Trend July 5.

“Since the [Iranian] revolution, we have been pursuing a policy to decrease tension among Muslim countries and to propagate relations serving prosperity and amity,” the MP said.

“Things such as the United States’ invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, and then the formation of the “Islamic State” (aka IS, ISIS, ISIL or Daesh) created crises in the region, but Iran has been making effort to undo them,” he added.

Earlier the day, Supreme National Security Council’s Secretary Ali Shamkhani told the Parliament that Iran’s efforts in organizing the political and security status in the region has minimized the effectiveness of destabilizing elements.

Tehran accuses the United States and certain regional countries in causing much of the unrests underway in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Bahrain.
