TEHRAN, Iran, Apr.12
Trend:
Iran is asking the South Korean government to release the Islamic Republic's [blocked] resources as soon as possible, Iran's First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri said, Trend reports via IRNA.
"Unfortunately the South Korean banks blocked $7 billion of Iran's funds, which are the revenues from legal oil and gas condensate exports to this country," said the top official.
"This issue caused serious stagnation in relations of the two countries," he said.
"The relations between the two countries have suffered by a lot of stagnation and inactivity in past three years since South Korea complied with illegal US sanctions against Iran," Jahangiri said.
"While South Korean banks blocked Iran's resources, Iranian nation urgently needs these resources due to COVID-19 situation. The action of South Korean banks have deprived Iran from its resources, which were to be used for purchase medical equipment , medicine and other necessary needs," he said.
"In this difficult situation, South Korean companies avoid to sell medicine and medical equipment to Iran," he said.
