EU to pledge a further 100 million euros in aid to Syria
The European Union will pledge a further 100 million euros (135 million dollars) of humanitarian aid for Syria at a donors' conference in Kuwait this week, its executive - the European Commission - said Tuesday, dpa reported.
"People inside Syria are cold, hungry and scared. Those who have managed to cross the borders often arrive with no more than the clothes on their backs," said EU Humaniatarian Aid Commissioner Kristalina.
The funding came on top of 100 million euros given by the commission last year, Kristalina said, urging other international donors to give generously.
