Saudi Arabia stands for a rapid and peaceful resolution of the situation surrounding the Iranian nuclear programme, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Fahd Bin Ali Al-Dosari told Trend on the eve of concluding his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan.
"Resolution of the situation around the Iranian nuclear programme would have a positive impact on the entire Persian Gulf region," he said.
The U.S., other Western countries and Israel suspect Iran of developing nuclear weapons under the guise of a peaceful nuclear energy programme. Tehran denies the charges, saying its nuclear programme is for civilian purposes.
While answering a question about the Syrian crisis, Al-Dosari stressed that Saudi Arabia is against interference in the internal affairs of any state. However undoubtedly, Saudi Arabia is concerned with the developments in Syria and to the Syrian people and wants speedy resolution of the crisis.
Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for more than a year and half. According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria exceeds 60,000. More than 230,000 have become refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
