Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip fired rockets into southern Israel Friday, striking an uninhabited area in the Eshkol region, dpa reported.

There were no casualties in the attack, the Israeli military reported by Twitter.

The attack follows clashes Thursday, including an Israeli airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip targeting a tunnel with a purported underground arsenal. Three Palestinian militants were killed in that incident.

Before the airstrike, clashes between Israeli soldiers and gunmen belonging to the Islamist group Hamas left one Hamas member dead and another injured. Five Israeli soldiers were also injured, Israeli media reported.

Following the launch of several missiles and mortar shells into Israel by Palestinian militants on Monday, Israeli aircraft bombed two targets in the northern Gaza Strip.
