Rescue teams searched Sunday for the flight recorders of a commercial jet that crashed near the south-western city of Mangalore, killing 158 people, DPA reported.
On Saturday, Air India Express flight 812 from Dubai overshot a hilltop runway on landing at Mangalore and crashed into a forested gorge. Only eight of the 166 people on board survived.
The flight data and cockpit voice recorders could not be located from the wreckage of the Boeing 737-800 on Saturday, as rescuers concentrated on looking for survivors and retrieving bodies.
Investigators from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and police were also inspecting the site for evidence that could give some indication of why the aircraft crashed.
