Turkey publishes figures on cargo shipment via local ports from Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 2

The volume of transshipment of goods from Georgia through the ports of Turkey amounted to 196,738 tons in January 2021, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

In the reporting month, the volume of cargo movement from Georgia by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 77,207 tons, by ships flying the flags of other countries – 119,531 tons.

According to the ministry, no cargo was handled through the Turkish ports of Turkey by ships flying the Georgian flag.

At the same time, the volume of cargo transshipment in transit from Georgia through the ports of Turkey amounted to 82,829 tons.

In January 2021, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to over 29.1 million tons, including more than 2.5 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag.

During the reporting month, 6.04 million tons of cargo were handled in transit through the ports of Turkey.

In 2020, the volume of cargo movement through the Turkish ports amounted to 365.4 million tons. Some 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying the Turkish flag, and 335.7 million tons – by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Over the past year, more than 72.4 million tons of cargo had been transited through the ports of Turkey.
