Iran and Russia will sign a protocol on livestock exports in the next 10 days.

Head of Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce Assadollah Asgaroladi said that Iran will start exporting livestock and dairy products to Russia once the protocol is signed, Iran's Fars News Agency reported on Jan. 11.

"We will export shrimp, caviar, and fisheries to Russia in the near future," he said.

The official went on to note that Russian president and the country's foreign minister will visit Tehran in the near future.

The Head of Iran Fisheries Organization Hasan Salehi said on Jan. 3 that Iran will start exporting fisheries to Russia in January.

"Russia has issued licenses for 18 Iranian companies to export fisheries to Moscow," he said.

"We have the capacity to export over 5,000 metric tons of fisheries to Russia," he noted.

"Iran will send the first consignment of fisheries to Russia in the near future," Salehi added.

"The consignment is consisted of trout and shrimp," he said.

Tehran is currently studying the possibility of exporting fruits and agricultural products to Moscow, as well.

During an official visit to Tehran by a high-ranking Russian delegation, the country officially requested Iran to increase its agricultural products and food stuff exports to Moscow in order to meet the country's domestic demands.

Asgaroladi said on September 30 that the chamber is studying a plan to replace US dollar with the two country's national currencies - rial and ruble - in bilateral trades.

"A Russian bank is supposed to establish a branch in Tehran, transferring the money to businesspersons at the exchange rate of free market," he explained.
