The Shanghai Cooperation Organization welcomes the Minsk agreement on resolution of Ukrainian conflict, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, who presides over the SCO said.

"Our common goal is to counter new challenges and threats with the high level of regional cooperation. In this regard, we welcome the results of the Minsk meeting on the resolution of the situation in the eastern of Ukraine, which is based on the implementation Ukrainian president's plan and Russian president's initiatives aimed at a peaceful resolution of this acute problem," Rahmon said at the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Kiev authorities and self-proclaimed authorities of Ukrainian Donbass region agreed on a cease-fire Sept. 5 within the framework of the trilateral meeting of the contact group (Russia - Ukraine - OSCE) on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis in Minsk.

The armistice envisages cessation of all hostilities and the exchange of "all for all" prisoners.

SCO summit kicked of in Dushanbe Sept. 12. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization includes Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Observer states are Afghanistan, India, Iran, Mongolia, and Pakistan. Belarus, Turkey and Sri Lanka have a status of partners in dialogue.
