Iran's power generation capacity has risen 2,831 megawatt (MW) to 73, 109 MW during the current fiscal year.
According to weekly report, published by Iran's Energy Ministry on March 9, Iran added 1,558- MW of natural gas power plants, 644-MW of combined-cycle power plants and 520-MW of hydropower plants to its power generation capacity from March 21, 2014 to March 3, 2015.
Iran increased power production capacity during last fiscal year by 1,386, about a half of current year's level.

Iran's power consumption rises in hot summer months, but decreases in colder months.
The report puts the actual power generation level at 56,856 MW during the current year.
Iran exported 9,108 GWh of electricity (decreased by 16 percent) during current year, while imported 3, 576 GWh (increased by 2 percent).
Gas consumption rate in power generation sector during the last 345 days increased 45.251 billion cubic meters (33.6 percent increase), while the diesel and fuel oil consumption were 8.205 billion liters (28.2 percent decrease) and 9.656 billion liters (33.4 percent decrease).
