Around 30 Iranian prisoners serving a sentence in Azerbaijan will return home Dec. 2, Iran's embassy in Azerbaijan told Trend Dec. 1.
This is envisaged by the contract about the exchange of prisoners, signed between Azerbaijan and Iran, the embassy said.
The prisoners will be transferred to the Iranian side on the checkpoint in Astara.
There are about 130 Iran's citizens in Azerbaijani prisons. Most of them are serving a sentence for the crimes related to drugs.
Around 52 more Iran's citizens expect the court verdict in Azerbaijan, the embassy said.
