Iranian Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi met with Pope Francis Feb.12.

Tasnim News Agency and some other Iranian media outlets covered the meeting information on February 13 without giving any details about their conversation.

This is the second time that an Iranian top official meets with a pope of Catholics in Vatican.

The official website of Vatican Church also only released several photos about Pope Francis and Molaverdi's meeting without any written text.

Before Molaverdi, Iran's ex-President Mohammad Khatami was the first Iranian high- ranking official to meet with a Pope since the Islamic Revolution (1979). He met with John Paul II in 1999.

Before that Pope Paul VI traveled Tehran in 1970. It is estimated that about 5,000 Catholics live in Iran.
