No one injured as a result of a strong earthquake that jolted northwest of Azerbaijan, the National Seismological Center at the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences told Trend on Monday
According to the report, the earthquake caused destructions. Residents of multistoried buildings left their homes.
Severe tremors measuring 5.5 points on the Richter scale jolted the north-west of Azerbaijan (in the area between Zagatala and Gakh regions) at 9:40 on Monday morning.
The epicenter was in 17 kilometers south-west of the Zagatala city.
