Turkmenistan, Georgia ink deal on oil transportation

Under an agreement, signed between Georgian and Turkmenistan, the annual transportation of 1.5 million tons of Turkmen oil will be carried out via the Georgian railway corridor, the Georgian media reported.

Reporters were informed about the issue by David Chiradze, director of Georgia Transit, a subsidiary of Georgian Railway LLC, and CEO of Caspian Transit Rati Ghvamberia, lenta.ge reported.

The agreement was signed for a period of three years.

Azerbaijan, WB sign loan agreement on TANAP

Azerbaijan and the World Bank (WB) have signed a loan agreement on the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) project, the WB Baku office said.

The WB allocated $400 million to Azerbaijan for the implementation of the project. The loan repayment period is 30 years and a grace period is five years.

Another loan worth $400 million was allocated for Turkey. Both loans will be used in the construction of the TANAP, which is a part of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) project.

Beneficiaries of the loans are Azerbaijan’s Southern Gas Corridor CJSC and Turkey’s BOTAS.

TANAP project envisages transportation of gas from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field to the western borders of Turkey.

German company to technically supervise TAPI Afghan section

Germany’s ILF Beratende Ingenieure GmbH company will provide services for project management and technical supervision over the Afghan section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) Natural Gas Pipeline, said the article of the online newspaper of the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan.

The corresponding contract with the German company was signed in Ashgabat by TAPI Pipeline Company Limited consortium.

“Cooperation of the sides covers the period until the final investment decision on the TAPI project is made,” said the article.

The study of the pipeline’s route started in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the technological design process will soon begin in parallel with the release of tender documents for procurement of long-lead equipment, the online Turkmen newspaper noted.

TAPI Pipeline Company Limited consortium continues active negotiations with all the interested parties. Various options are being studied, including participation in the company’s share, project financing, funding through international development banks, as well as with the help of global export and credit agencies, the article said.
